Summer Reading is over and thoughts of school are in the air. Our Huron County Community Library
locations in Willard, Wakeman, North Fairfield, and Greenwich have lots planned to take you through
the month of August.
On Tuesday, August 5 at 4 p.m. in the Willard Community Room, our Youth Department will hold
their annual “Back to the Books BINGO”! Come join us and play Bingo to win school supplies and more.
Join us kids in the community room on Tuesday, August 26 at 5 p.m. for a “Backpack Buddies”
activity. Dress up you backpack and make it unique with a backpack buddy.
There will be no “Storytime” in August but Miss Mitzi will be back in September for more “Storytime”
fun.
Teens join Miss Courtney in the community room on Thursday, August 7 at 5 p.m. to make “Tin Can
Lanterns”. Use a pattern or create your own design and hammer it into a tin can. We will add fairy
lights to finish off your can.
On Thursday, August 21 at 5 p.m. Teens are invited to come to the Willard Annex and create your
own “stress ball” using flour and cornstarch and essential oils.
Join Josh for Willard’s “Writers’ Group” in the library community room on Thursday, August 21
at 6 p.m. If you love to write and want to get started, contact Josh at jfigley@huroncolib.org.
“Tech Thursdays with Jarrad” are held every Thursday in the Willard Library Computer Lab at 5 p.m.
Just drop in with your computer questions.
“Monday Reads” meets the second Monday of every month at 10 a.m. in the Willard Community
Room. On Monday, August 11 the group will be discussing “Remarkably Bright Creatures” by Shelby Van
Pelt.
“Turn the Page Book Discussion”, Willard’s evening discussion group meets the last Thursday of each
month. This group will get together on August 28 at 6 p.m. to share their thoughts on “Happy Place” by
Emily Henry.
“Cook Up a Storm” Cookbook Club meets the first Thursday, of each month in the Willard Annex.
Adults are invited to join us on August 7 at 6 p.m. Fix a recipe to share from “The Busy Family
Cookbook” by Taste of Home.
“The Senior Hour” presented by Laurels of New London is scheduled for Friday, August 29 at 11 a.m.
in the Willard Library annex. Come learn how to make different salsa.
“Pinterest Monday” at Willard is scheduled for August 18 at 6 p.m. in the annex. Sign up is required.
Join us if you like plants and struggle to keep them alive. Come and create your own beaded plant.
“Crochet Corner” meets in the Willard Community Room on Wednesdays at 11 a.m. Come on
August 6 & 13 and learn how to make a fun Granny Square Drawstring Bag with Terry. This is a
beginner’s project. These classes are for ages 9 and up so come and make it a family project.

There will be no “Craft Time with the Library” at the Willard Enrichment Center for the month of
August. Enjoy a trip to the Huron County Fair for Senior Day on August 14!
Join us on select Fridays as we taste and learn about different food dishes you can make at home.
“Food Friday” workshops will be held in the Willard Annex. On August 8 at 11 a.m. join us for “Meal
Prep 101”. Learn simple meal prep ideas you can do for little cost and time.
Homeschool families and kids are invited to join us for a special “Kids’ Cookbook Club” at our
Wakeman location. Checkout a copy of our monthly library cookbook choice and make your recipe at
home and bring it to our discussion for everyone to enjoy. The group, “Look What I Cooked: kids’
Cookbook Club” will meet on Tuesday, August 5 at 12:30 p.m. The cookbook of choice is “Farmers’
Market Favorites” by Gooseberry Patch.
“Food For Thought Cookbook Club” at our Wakeman Library will get together on August 4 at 6 p.m.
They will share their favorite recipes from “Magnolia Table” Vol. 3 by Joanna Gaines.
“Who Picked This Book” Wakeman’s book club will get together on Monday, August 18 at 5:30 p.m.
They will share their thoughts on “One Summer: America, 1927” by Bill Bryson.
Sign up is required on Monday, August 25 at 5:30 p.m. for Pinterest Monday at our Wakeman Library
location. Come and create your own “Beaded Plant”.
Join the Laurels of New London at the Wakeman Library for a morning of fun and information just for
seniors. The “Senior Hour” is scheduled for August 26 at 10:30 a.m. There is a difference topic each
month and always an activity or craft.
Come to our Greenwich Library location Wednesday Afternoons between 3-5 p.m. for an afternoon
of fun activities:
On Wednesday, August 6, we will be making leftover crafts from June. Come and make Ping Pong ball
planets, a spotlight picture, and see what happens when mixing watercolor drops. On Wednesday,
August 27, crafts will be leftover crafts from July. Come and create a salt painting, a Rainbow picture,
and a wax stick maze.
Sign up is required at the Greenwich Library for Pinterest Monday. On August 4, at 5:30 p.m. create a
beaded plant.
Join us at the North Fairfield Library on Wednesday, August 6 at 10:30 a.m. for the “History of North
Fairfield” through a walking tour. Ruth Earl, local historian and curator of the North Fairfield Museum,
will guide us on a walking tour of the village.
North Fairfield’s’ “Sit-n-Stitch” group of friendly, fiber artists meet every Monday morning at 10 a.m.
at the North Fairfield Library. Join the group on August 4, 11, 18, and 25.
The North Fairfield Library invites you to join us on the first Friday of each month for a special craft or
activity. Sign up is required. On August 1, join us to paint wine glasses. They will be great for
decorations and even candle holders.
“PT Patty” from Integrated Therapeutic Healing will be at the North Fairfield Library on Tuesday,
August 26 at 11 a.m.
Come visit the Huron County Community Library booth August 11-16 at the Huron County Fair. We
will be making buttons and more.
