CALLER UNKNOWN

Simone and her teenage daughter, Lucy, are on vacation in Texas, spending some quality time together before Lucy goes to college. On their first morning in the cabin they rented, Simone wakes to discover she's all alone. Lucy is nowhere to be found. Under her pillow is a cell phone that is not Lucy's. And it's ringing. When she answers the phone, every mother's worst nightmare becomes reality. Lucy has been taken. And Simone will do anything they ask to get her back. So, this sounds like it has the potential to be pretty good, right? Well...not so much. I feel like everything about it was flat and banal- the story, the dialogue, the characters. It started out with short chapters that moved it along pretty quickly, but after awhile the short chapters didn't help. It just droned on and on and on. Not a fan.
