     It’s May and spring is definitely in the air.  Saturday, May 11 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Willard’s Spring Fest will be held downtown.  Join our Huron County Community Library at the Spring Fest for Touch-A-Truck, games, a free necklace craft, and a “Whiz Bang Science” performance at 1 p.m.  Also, near “Touch-A-Truck”, check out the free plants we have and take some home.  The library’s Plant Swap is back!  Bring your plants downtown from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. to take part in the swap.  If you don’t have a plant to bring, that’s ok.

  •  Let’s celebrate “Children’s Book Week “, Mon. May 6 thru Sat. May 11.  Stop in the Youth Services Department at our Willard library for free activities all day long each day.

     
  • Join us for our monthly Lego Building Challenge on Tues. May 7 at 4:30 p.m. in the Willard Memorial Library Community Room.

     
  • Kids, come to the Willard Library Youth Service’s Programming Room on Thurs. May 9 at 4:30 p.m.  We will be doing crayon resist painting and adding torn tissue paper to create a unique heart picture.

     
  • On Tues. May 14 at 4:30 p.m. kids ages 8-11 are invited to join us in the Willard Community Room to make an infinity card.  An infinity card is a card that keeps going when you fold and unfold the paper.

     
  • Join Miss Char in the community room on Thurs. May 23 at 6 p.m. for a special “story time” for older kids and adults.  Listen to some fun snail books and make a craft.

     
  • Stop by for some butterfly fun at our Willard location on Tues. May 28 at 5 p.m. in the community room.  We will be reading some butterfly books, watching amazing butterfly videos, and making a butterfly craft.

     
  • There will be no Storytime for the little ones in the month of May as we prepare for Summer Reading which starts June 3!

     
  • Tweens and Teens, grades 6 and up are invited to join Mrs. Rogers for Teen Time.  On Thurs. May 2 at 4 p.m. in the Willard Annex, teens will be felting with wool.  Sign-up is required. 

     
  • Come to the Willard Teen room on Thurs. May 9 at 4 p.m. and create your own Para cord Bracelets.

     
  • Let’s make ice cream Teens!!  Join Mrs. Rogers on Thurs. May 16 at 4 p.m.  Sign-up is required.

     
  • Teens come to the Willard Annex on May 23 at 4 p.m. and have fun with games and snacks. 

     
  • Pinterest Monday will be held on May 20 at 6 p.m.  Come and create an ocean themed coaster with us using Diamond Art.

     
  • Sign-up is required for Crochet 101.  No experience is necessary.  Join us on May 10 and 24 at 11 a.m. in the Willard Community Room. 

     
  • Sign-up is also required for the Dulcimer 101 workshops.  Join Johanna Beebe for the free music classes in the Willard Community Room on May 8 and 22 at 11 a.m.

     
  • Come to the Willard Enrichment Center on Thurs. May 9 at 10 a.m. and make a sun catcher wind chime.  This activity is for ages 18 and up. 

     
  • Registration is encouraged for our free Line Dancing workshops held at the Willard Enrichment Center.  Join the “Rockin’ Mommas” for a fun way to exercise.  Call the library to reserve your spot for Thurs. May 23 at 6 p.m.

     
  • “Writers’ Group” will meet Thurs. May 16 at 5 p.m.  Contact Josh at jfigley@huroncolib.org.

     
  • “ Tech Thursdays with Jarrad” is held every Thursday at 6:30 p.m.  Just drop in at the Willard Memorial Library location with your tech questions.

     
  •  “Monday Reads” book discussion will meet on Monday, May 13 at 10 a.m. in the Willard Community Room to share their thoughts on “The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue” by V.E. Schwab.

     
  • “Cook Up a Storm” cookbook club invites you to come and share in lively discussions and enjoy a bite to eat.  With the celebration of Willard coming up, the chosen cookbook is “The Best of the Best from Ohio Cookbook”. 

     
  • “Turn the Page” book discussion, Willard’s evening book discussion will be held on Thurs. May 30 at 6 p.m.  The group will discuss “Malibu Rising” by Jenkins Reid.

     
  •  Kids drop in anytime from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Thursdays for fun activities, crafts and more.  Thursday After School will be held at our Wakeman location on May 2 and 9.

     
  •  Wakeman Storytime will be held Friday, May 3 at 10:30 a.m.

     
  •  Pinterest Monday will be held at Wakeman Library on Mon. May 13 at 5:30 p.m.  Sign-up is required.  Adults are invited to come and create an ocean-themed coaster with Diamond Art.

     
  • “Who Picked This Book?” Wakeman’s book club will meet on Monday, May 29 at 5:30 p.m.   They will share thoughts on “The Benevolent Society of Ill-Mannered Ladies by Brianna Labuskes.

     
  • Wakeman’s Cookbook Club will get together on Mon. May 6 at 6 p.m.  Visit the Wakeman Circulation desk for a copy of the cookbook “Just Eat” by Jessie James Decker, pick out a recipe and cook something delicious to share.

     
  • Our Greenwich location will hold their Pinterest Monday on Mon. May 6 at 5:30 p.m.  They will also be using Diamond Art to create an ocean-themed coaster. 

     
  • If you are 8 years of age to adult you are invited to take part in Felting Fun at our Greenwich location on Wednesdays from 5:30 to 7 p.m.  Sign-up is required.  Needle Felt Shapes will be done on Wed. May 1 and Wet Felt 3D items on May 8, 15, and 22.

     
  • 3D Wet Felting will be held at our North Fairfield location, too.  Ages 8 to Adult are welcome to come on Mon. May 6 an 13 from 4 to 5:30 p.m.  Sign-up is required.

     
  • Pinterest Craft Day at North Fairfield will be Friday, May 3 at 1 p.m.  Join us to make a sun catcher wind chime using chicken wire and beads.

     
  • Drop in knit or crochet at the North Fairfield Library will continue through May 20 on Mondays from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. 

     
  • Young authors ages 6-11, come and create your own books at the North Fairfield Library on Tues. May 14 at 3:30 p.m.

     
  • Adult stitchers and crafters are invited to bring their personal projects and chat with fellow like-minded crafters on Mon. May 6, 13, and 20 at 10 a.m. 

     
  • Willard Friends of the Library will hold their book sale on May 10 and 11 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Willard Memorial Library annex.
