It’s February and a good time to “share the love” with your library and make sure that you find time to take part in all the activities planned for you at our Huron County Community Library locations.
All February long will be a “Blind Date with a Book” at our Willard Memorial Library location. Take a chance of finding a book of your dreams by checking out one of our eligible dates and get a little treat.
Pinterest Monday will be held on Monday, February 10 at 6 p.m. in the Willard Library Annex. Join us to journey into the world of embroidery and create your own embroidery heart ornament. Sign up is required.
Come to the Willard Enrichment Center on Thursday, February 13 at 10 a.m. for “Craft Time with the Library”. Come create a candle using dried flowers. Afterwards a yummy lunch is available provided by the Enrichment Center. This program is for ages 18 and up.
The Crochet Corner will meet in the community room at the Willard Library on Friday, February 14 and Friday, February 28 at 11 a.m. There will be a special project on February 14. Terry will be available to answer questions and work on projects with you.
Dulcimer 102 is scheduled for Wednesday, February 19 at 11 a.m. in the Willard Community Room. If you are interested in the Dulcimer, be sure to join us. Because space is limited, sign up is appreciated.
Get moving with the Willard Library by taking part in the Free line dancing workshop held at the Willard Enrichment Center on Thursday, February 20 at 6 p.m. Registration is encouraged so stop by the library or call and reserve your spot.
Tech Thursdays with Jarrad is available in the Willard Computer Lab every Thursday at 6:30 p.m. Just drop in with your computer questions and Jarrad will be available to answer your questions and more.
If you love to write or want to start, join Willard’s “Writers’ Group” on Thursday, February 20 at 5 p.m. in the community room. For information or to sign up contact Josh at jfigley@huroncolib.org.
“Monday Reads” book discussion will meet in the Willard Community Room on Monday, February 10 at 10 a.m. to share their thoughts on “The Diamond Eye” by Kate Quinn.
“Turn the Page Book Discussion”, Willard’s evening book discussion will get together on Thursday, February 27 at 6 p.m. to talk about “Absolution” by Alice McDermott.
“Cook Up a Storm Cookbook Club” has lively discussions as they enjoy a bite to eat. Adults are invited to the Willard Library Annex on Thursday, February 6 at 6 p.m. to share their recipes from “Sheet Pan Suppers” by Molly Gilbert.
Hey Teens!! Manga Club is back! If you love Manga, join Courtney on Monday, February 10 and Monday, February 24 at 6 p.m. in the Willard Teen Room.
Teen Time is for grades 6 and up. On Thursday, February 6 at 6 p.m. come to the Teen Room and create Toilet Paper Flower Bouquets and then on Thursday, February 20, at 6 p.m. create art by doing “Mardi Gras Mask Paint Pouring” using canvas, paint, and Mardi Gras Beads.
Bring your little ones on Wednesday mornings at 10:30 and Thursday evenings at 6:30 p.m. for Willard Library’s “Read to me Storytime” with Miss Mitzi. Join us for stories, crafts, songs, and more. On February 5 & 6 the theme will be “Hip, Hip Hooray for Valentine’s Day”; on February 19 & 20 it will be “Birds in our Backyard” and on February 26 & 27 it will be “Welcome to the Jungle”.
Start your child on the adventures of reading with “1000 Books before Kindergarten”. Stop by our Youth Services Department for more information. This reading program is available at all of our Huron County Community Library locations.
Our Willard Youth Programs are suggested for grades K-5.
Kids join us in the Willard Library Community Room on Tuesday, February 4 at 4:30 p.m. to create crafts that start with a “Heart”.
On Thursday, February 6, at 4:30 p.m. in the Willard Youth Programming Room, come ready to get dirty! Join Miss Char for some fun painting. You will be painting plaster figurines of pets.
Take part in Lego fun on Tuesday, February 11 at 4:30 p.m. in the Willard Community Room. The “Brick Bunch” will have fun with the featured building challenge.
Do you have a “TonieBox”? Our Willard location has Tonies and TonieBoxes available to checkout. The Tonies and TonieBoxes are available for 14 day checkouts. You can also place holds on Tonies. The Tonies are available at our Willard and Greenwich locations.
Do you want to get the kids out of the house for a little while? Join us at our Greenwich Library location on Tuesdays, February 18 & 25 at 1 p.m. for “Pop-in and Play”. Our toy cupboards have some fun new activities available.
“Wednesday Afternoons” at our Greenwich Library offer an afternoon of fun. Join us for an activity every Wednesday between 3-5 p.m. On February 5 have fun building with a dough material called “Mad Mattr”; on February 12 make a beautiful heart using plastic, sharpies, and rubbing alcohol; on February 19 make a maze out of playdough. We will complete the maze with a marble. The final activity will be offered on February 26 and repeated on Friday, February28 from 3-5 p.m. All ages are welcome on these two days to come and make a dotted heart on canvas using pom poms and paint.
Pinterest Monday is scheduled for February 3 at 5:30 p.m. Have you ever wanted to do embroidery? Come to the Greenwich Library to learn about embroidery and create your own embroidery heart ornament.
The Senior Hour will be held at the Greenwich Library on February 4 at 11 a.m. This hour is presented by “Laurels of New London”. Join us for fun and learning. Enjoy Bingo with prizes and discussions that relate to you.
Our Greenwich Library location is offering a “Puzzle Exchange”. Bring a puzzle, take a puzzle! Drop off your unwanted puzzles to exchange for a new one or simply leave it for someone else. The puzzle exchange is located between the two entrance doors. The black crate for collecting the puzzles is located under the table.
Integrated Therapeutic Healing will be at the North Fairfield Library on Tuesday, February 18 at 11 a.m. Come take part in Free “Chair Yoga” sessions and learn a new way to move.
Join us at our North Fairfield location on Friday, February 7 at 1 p.m. to create your own personal plastic canvas bookmark. Sign up is required.
Sit & Stitch meets on Mondays at 10 a.m. at the North Fairfield Library. Bring a project and join like-minded fellow crafters on February 3, 10, & 24.
All ages are invited to beat the winter blues at our Wakeman Library during the month of February with “Blind Date with a Book”. You could win a prize or fall in love with a new author.
Kids can drop in anytime at the Wakeman Community Library from 3:30 to 6 p.m. on Thursdays for fun activities, crafts, and more. Each week will feature something new. Join us on February 6, 13, 20, and 27.
Wakeman’s “Storytime” is held on Friday mornings at 10:30 a.m. Join Cathy on February 7, 14,21, & 28 for stories, activities, and more.
Pop-in and Play” at the Wakeman Library is held on Wednesday mornings from 10:30 to noon. Come enjoy toys, and fun activities this month on February 5, 12, 19, & 26.
Homeschool families and kids are invited to join us at Wakeman for a special kids’ cookbook club. The “Look What I Cooked Kids’ Cookbook Club” will get together on Tuesday, February 4 at 12 p.m. Kids should select a recipe to make and share from “Easy Classic Casseroles” by Gooseberry Patch.

Adults join the “Laurels of New London” at our Wakeman location on Tuesday, February 25 at 10:30 a.m. for the “Senior Hour”. Come enjoy a morning of fun and learning with games, prizes, and speakers. This is valuable education and resource for all adults. There will be a different resource and activity each month.
“Food for thought Cookbook Club” will meet on Monday, February 3 at 6 p.m. to share recipes from “Six Sisters’ Stuff” by Six Sisters’ Stuff. Drop by the circulation desk at Wakeman to get a book, pick out a recipe to make, and join us for a unique, delicious dinner.
“Who Picked this Book?” Wakeman’s Book Club, will get together on Monday, February 10 at 5:30 p.m. to share their thoughts on “The Women” by Kristin Hannah.
