The Huron County Community Library will be offering plenty of activities for all ages to enjoy during
the month of May.
On Thursday, May 1 at 6 p.m. at the Willard Memorial Library location, author, Brandon Weis, will be
here to share his adventures in hiking for a year. You will learn about the mental toll that this kind of
hiking takes on a person and also the reasons why anyone would want to do this. Join us for this
presentation in the Community Room. His book, “This is Gonna Hurt”, will be available for purchase.
Willard’s “Downtown Spring Fest” is planned for Saturday, May 10, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The
Willard Memorial Library will be at the Spring Fest and invites everyone to join us at Doster Plaza at 1
p.m. for “The Magic of Reading Show”. Mike Hemmelgarn, comedy juggler and ventriloquist, will be the
entertainer. This interactive show will be fun for the whole family.
The Willard Library will also host its “Plant Swap” at this event between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Bring a
plant and take one home. If you don’t have a plant to swap, just find a “new” one to take with you.
Plants should be dropped off May 10 between 9 and 10 a.m.
Adults are invited to come to the Willard Enrichment Center on Thursday, May 8 at 10 a.m. We are
getting out the Cricut for an adventure with vinyl. Come create your own library bag using iron on vinyl
decals.
Join us at the Willard Memorial Library annex for Pinterest Monday on May 12 at 6 p.m. We will be
learning how to use resin and create a cute key chain. Sign up is required.
On Thursday, May 22 at 6 p.m. in the Willard annex, we will explore the world of “Fairy Gardens” and
make our own to take home. Sign up is required.
Learn to “Crochet at the Library” on Fridays at 11 a.m. On May 29 and 23, Terry will be working on
“Spring bunnies”.
The “Senior Hour” with The Laurels of New London is scheduled for Friday, May 30 at 11 a.m. Join us
at the Willard Library location as Justina Miller, OT and the Director of Cornerstone Caregiving, will be
here to talk about home safety.
Kid, stop by the Willard Memorial Library’s Youth Services Department on Tuesday, May 6 at 4:30
p.m. to make a craft for someone special in your life for Mother’s Day.
Brick Bunch will gather in the Willard community room on Tuesday, May 13 at 4:30 p.m. Join in for
some Lego fun.
There will be NO “Storytime” in May as we get ready for Summer Reading. “Storytime” will be back
in June.
Manga Club will be meeting on Mondays May 12 and 19 at 6 p.m. They will continue sharing
conversations on “Spy X Family”. They will also have fun with a Manga themed craft.

Teen Time (Grades 6 and up) will be held on Thursdays May 8 and 16 at 6 p.m. in the Willard Library
Teen Room. On May 8 come and make a bird feeder using Popsicle sticks. On May 22 come and explore
the constellations and create some canvas art using fairy lights.
“Monday Reads” will meet at Willard in the community room on May 12 at 10 a.m. They will be
sharing their thoughts on the book, “Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret” by Judy Blume. The month
of May is a “Community Read”, so join us and pick up your copy at our Greenwich, Willard, and North
Fairfield locations.
“Turn the Page” Willard’s evening book discussion will meet on Thursday, May 29 at 6 p.m. They will
be discussing the book “Still Me” by JoJo Moyers.
All adults are invited to join us at the Willard Annex for “Cook Up a Storm” our monthly Cookbook
Club. On Thursday, May 8 at 6 p.m. we will be using the cookbook, “Delish: Eat Like Every Day’s the
Weekend” by Joanna Salz.
Do you love to write? Join Willard Memorial Library’s “Writers’ Group” on Thursday, May 15 at 5

“Tech Thursdays with Jarrad” is available every Thursday at 6:30 p.m. Bring your computer questions
to the Willard Library computer lab and Jarrad will be here to answer your questions.
Our Wakeman Library location is offering an Adult Art Class with FAVA (Firelands Association of the
Visual Arts). Join a quest artist on Thursday, May 22 at 6 p.m. This interactive session will walk Adults
through different techniques to create your own unique drawing. No experience is needed.
On Monday, May 19, at 5:30 p.m. join us at the Wakeman Library for Pinterest Monday. Learn how
to use resin and make a keychain.
The Senior Hour presented by Laurels of New London, will be held at the Wakeman Library on
Monday, May 5 at 10:30 a.m. Mike Dwyer, Hospice Care Consultant from Southern Care, will share
Hospice 101 Facts and Myths.
Wakeman’s “Food For Thought Cook Book Club” will get together on Monday, May 5 at 6 p.m. They
will be using the cookbook, “Most Requested Copycat Dishes” by Favorite Family Recipes. Drop by the
circulation desk at Wakeman to get a book and pick out a recipe to make and share.
“Who Picked This Book?” Wakeman’s Book Club will meet on Monday, May 12 at 5:30 p.m. The will
share thoughts on “The Berry Pickers” by Amanda Peters.
“Thursday Crafteroom” is scheduled at the Wakeman Library for Thursdays, May 1 and May 8 from
3:30 to 6 p.m. Kids can drop in anytime for fun activities, crafts, and more! Each week features
something new.
“Pop-in and Play” is held at our Wakeman location on Wednesday mornings from 10:30 – noon.
There are plenty of toys and fun activities to do.
“Storytime” is held on Friday mornings at 10:30 a.m. Join Cathy at the Wakeman Library for stories,
activities, and more. Storytime will get to gether on May 2 and May 9 this month.
Pinterest Monday at our Greenwich Library location is scheduled for Monday, May 5 at 5:30 p.m.
Join us as we venture into the world of resin! We’ll be learning how to use resin and creating a cute
keychain.
Greenwich Library is having a book sale on Saturday, May 10 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Come into the
library’s programming room to see the books available. Price of books is based on donation.
Join us in May for the Community Read. Copies of “Are You There God? It’s me Margaret will be
available at the Greenwich and North Fairfield Libraries. Check one out and leave us your thoughts on
our comment cards.
“PT Patty” from Integrated Therapeutic Healing will be a North Fairfield Library on Tuesday, May 20
at 11 a.m. Please join us for Chair Yoga!

Senior Hour presented by Laurels of New London will be held at North Fairfield on Tuesday, May 6 at
11 a.m. The guest speaker will be Karen Daniel an RN from Fisher-Titus. Karen will be speaking on
“Stroke Awareness”.
We’re all touched by death and the pain it brings. Healing depends on finding ways to live with the
pain. Join us at our North Fairfield Library location for “Learning to live with grief”, Tuesday, May 13 at
11 a.m.
Pinterest Craft Day is planned for Friday, May 2 at 1 p.m. at the North Fairfield Library. Come and
learn how to use a Cricut Machine from set up to finish. We will even have a project to for you to try.
Make and Play is held at the North Fairfield Library on Tuesdays at 3:30 p.m. On May 6 come and
create recycled art and on May 20 come and take part in some games.
Be sure to enjoy your libraries in May but get ready
