Sooo much fun is planned at all of our Huron County Community Library locations for this summer.
The Summer Reading Program, “Color Our World”, begins on June 9 and lasts through July 16. Each of
our locations has so many terrific activities planned that you will want to schedule stops at each library.
Our Willard Memorial Library location invites all ages to join us on Tuesday, June 10 at 2 p.m. at the
Trinity Lutheran Church across from the library to welcome artist Jeff Nicholas. Come join us for
cartooning and funny stories as we draw alongside Jeff and his cartoon side-kicks for some take home
art of your own.
On Thursday, June 12 at 2 p.m. at the Willard Library Annex, come and take part in some science fun
with color. This outdoor event is open to all ages.
Kids can come to the Youth Services Department at the Willard Library every Friday from 1-3 p.m. to
take part in “Crafty Corner Creations”. We will supply the materials and the kids will supply the
creativity. When finished with your creation, you can take it home or leave it for the July Art Show. On
June 13 from 1-3 p.m. kids will be creating “Paper Sculptures”, on June 20 “Push Pin Art/Creative
Bookends”, and on June 27 “Moving Paper Sculptures”.
On Tuesday, June 17 at 6 p.m. Yasu Ishida, an interactive storytelling artist, will join us in the Willard
Library community room. Yasu Ishida combines music, origami, storytelling, and a touch of magic in an
interactive program that is sure to inspire all ages.
“A book to start and then art” is scheduled in the Willard Library annex on Wednesday, June 18 and
Tuesday, June 24 at 1 p.m. On June 18, Miss Char will be sharing the book “This is NOT a Cat!” by David
LaRochelle. Kids will then paint a cat using a squeegee. Kids will finish their cat painting by adding fun
details using other mediums. On June 24, Miss Char will share Jan Brett’s book, “Mossy”, followed by a
turtle craft and a few turtle facts.
EXCITEMENT at our Willard Memorial Library!! On Friday, June 13 at 5:30 p.m. ages 6 and up are
invited to an “After hours NERF WAR!” with library staff. Bring the whole family to race through the
stacks, run, dodge, and out blast the competition. Space is limited so call the library and get more
information.
A Representative from Armstrong Air Space will be here on Thursday, June 26 at 1 p.m. Come and
observe how space is observed through filters and what light colors reveal about objects in space. Kids
will experiment with color changes using filters and create a pony bead bracelet to observe through
filters.
Our Willard Library location has a “Paint Palette Scavenger Hunt” planned for all kids beginning
Monday June 30 through Saturday, July 5. You can search is available all day in the Youth Services
Department. Find all the paint to fill your palette and then bring your completed palette to the Youth
Services Desk to claim a prize.

Storytime at the Willard Memorial Library will be starting up again in June. Bring your little one on
Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. or Thursday evenings at 6:30 p.m. The theme for June 11 & 12 is “Color Your
World”, for June 18 it is “Rainbows Everywhere” and on June 25 & 26 “Paint Like an Artist”.
Be sure to stop by your Willard Library location each week during Summer Reading and pick up a
themed activity or craft. For week #1 - “Imagine it”, week #2 – “Explore it”, week #3 – “Try it”,
week #4 – “Think it over”, week #5 – “Create it”, and week #6 – “Savor it”.
Teens come and join us at the Willard Library Teen Room for special Summer Reading activities. On
Thursday, June 12 at 5 p.m. in the Willard annex, Teens will kick off Summer Reading with Tie Dye
Drawstring Canvas Bags! They will be great to hold all your Teen incentives that you will be earning this
summer.
On Monday, June 10 – Friday June 20, stop by the Willard Teen Room and pick up a Take Home Kit
and Supplies to create your own 4x4 sketchbook.
On Friday, June 26 at 5 p.m. come to the Willard Library Annex, Teens, and learn to paint like artist
Wassily Kadinsky using your senses and experiences. We will try to simulate the effect of Synesthesia
and paint what we sense.
The Willard Teen Manga Club will meet in the community room on Mondays June 2, 16, & 30 at 6
p.m. Come join us for a lively discussion on selected Manga with games and snacks.
Teen programming is intended for grades 6 and up (ages 11-18).
Our Willard location has plenty of workshops and events for adults in June. Come at 6 p.m. on
Monday, June 16, for Pinterest Monday. Create some art that busts through the canvas. Sign up is
required.
On Monday, June 23 at 6 p.m. in the Willard annex, come and create with mini canvas magnets.
Make one for the July Art Show and one to take home. Sign up is required.
Come to the Willard Enrichment Center on Thursday, June 12 at 10 a.m. for “Craft Time with the
Library”. We will be creating greeting cards using Washi tape. You can even stick around after for a
yummy lunch provided by the enrichment center. This event is for ages 18 and up.
Join us at our Willard location for “Food Fridays” at 11 a.m. Sessions include recipes and samples. On
June 13 we will feature Mocktails and Charcuterie Boards and on June 27 Mug Meals with Senior Hour
present by the Laurels.
This summer in June and July, our Willard Memorial Library location will offer “Working out with
Missy”. Join Missy for a mix of different workouts, such as walking, cardio drumming, and chair yoga.
On Tuesday, June 10 at 10 a.m. meet at the Depot for a “Walk at the Park”, on Wednesday, June 18 at
11:30 a.m. meet in the Community Room for “Chair Yoga” with Patti, and Tuesday, June 24, at 10 a.m.
meet in the Annex for cardio drumming.
If you want to write but haven’t taken the time, join Willard Library’s “Writers’ Group”. The Group
will get together on Thursday, June 26 at 5 p.m. For information or to sign up, contact Josh at

Bring your computer questions to the Willard Library computer lab during Tech Thursdays at 6:30
p.m. Jarrad will be here to answer questions, review topics, and more. Topics include basic computer
skills, email, social media, and more.
“Monday Reads” Willard Library’s morning book discussion will meet on June 9 at 10 a.m. to talk
about the book “Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine” by Gail Honeyman.
Willard’s evening book discussion, “Turn the Page” will get together on Thursday, June 26 at 6 p.m. to
share their thoughts on the book “Coworker” by Frieda McFadden.
Join our lively discussions and enjoy a bite to eat at Willard’s monthly “Cook Up a Storm” cookbook
club. Adults are invited to join us on Thursday, June 5, at 6 p.m. in Willard’s Annex. The cookbook that
will be used is “Does this Taste Funny?” by Stephen Colbert and Evie McGee Colbert. Everyone will bring
a recipe from the book to share.

You are invited to our Wakeman location on Wednesday, June 11 at 11 a.m. or 1 p.m. for “Blake’s
Comedy, Variety Show”. Join us for puppets, magic, juggling and more. We are featuring 2
opportunities to see this amazing show meant for all ages. Sign up is required.
Join Cathy for Storytime at our Wakeman location on Fridays at 10:30 a.m. Come for fun stories,
activities, and more on June 13, 20, and 27. On June 20, Storytime will have a guest, Jody Chafee, from
the “Firelands Symphony Orchestra. Sign up is required for this musical Storytime.
Families are invited to join us at the Wakeman Library for a special kid’s cookbook club. Check out a
copy of a specially selected cookbook and make your favorite recipe at home and bring it to share for a
potluck lunch. On Tuesday, June 10 at 12 p.m. they will share recipes from “The Best Homemade Kid’s
Lunches on the Planet” by Laura Fuentes.
Kids! Join Cathy at Wakeman to create colorful projects! Come on June 18 & 25 at 10:30 a.m. or 1
p.m. Sign up is required for “Creation Time”.
P J’s Family Entertainment will be at our Wakeman location on Tues. June 17 at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
This is a special, magical, storytelling show, “The Art of Laughter”. Join us for music, puppets, and
laughter. Sign up is required.
“Color Your World Magic Show” featuring A2 Magic is scheduled at our Wakeman location on
Monday, June 21 at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Enjoy a fun afternoon of magic. Sign up is required. Only register
for one show.
The Senior Hour presented by the “Laurels of New London” is scheduled for Tuesday, June 24 at
10:30 a.m. at Wakeman. Sharon Wingert from Van Allen Insurance will be there to discuss managed
Medicare vs Medicare.
Pinterest Monday at our Wakeman location will be held on June 30 at 5:30 p.m. Come and create a
sunflower canvas using the pour paint technique. Sign up is required.
“Food for Thought Cookbook Club” will get together on Monday, June 2 at 6 p.m. Kick off summer
with a fun colorful meal.
“Who Picked This Book?” Wakeman’s Book Club, will meet on Monday, June 16 at 5:30 p.m. They will
share thoughts on “The Keeper of Happy Endings” by Barb Davis. Copies of this book are available at the
Wakeman circulation desk.
Join us every Monday afternoon between 5-7 p.m. at our Greenwich Library for a 15 min. activity. On
June 2 enjoy making a flower bouquet from paper towels and water based markers. On June 9 explore
your artistic creativity by making a coloring tablet out of bags, glue and paint. On June 23 we will be
using ping pong balls, paint and tea lights to make glowing planets. On June 16 find out what happens
when you drag different colored water drops together. On June 30 create a picture out of a coloring
page and bag. Then make a paper flashlight to see it.
You can pick up a non-perishable CHA Lunch Bunch between 6-7 p.m. as well.
The Greenwich Library invites you to Rainbow Storytime. Come read your way through the rainbow,
kids, and enjoy colorful activities. Don’t forget to dress the part and wear the color of the week. On
Wednesday, June 11 at 1 p.m. come to the park and wear Red. On Wednesday, June 18 at 1 p.m. come
to the Library and wear Orange. On Wednesday, June 25 at 1 p.m. come to the park and wear yellow.
Mad science and Crayola Imagine Arts Academy kick off summer reading with color, art, and science.
Come to the Greenwich Library on Thursday, June 12 at 11 a.m. for “The Colors of the World”.
On Wednesdays, Kids can drop in at our Greenwich location between 2-4 p.m. for “Color Creations”.
Drop in for messy, sensory fun and butterfly art on June 11 and 25. Wear old clothes.
Join PJ and Splat at our Greenwich Library on Wednesday, June 18 at 2:30 p.m. for an hour of
interactive storytelling, music, magic and laughter.
The Armstrong Air and Space Museum will give an interactive program about all the colors in space at
the Greenwich Library on Thursday, June 26 at 11 a.m.

Adults can come and create at the Greenwich Library on Monday, June 2 at 5:30 p.m. Try your hand
at making a Sunflower Canvas using a pour paint technique.
Tuesdays are for getting messy! Come ready to make a mess at our North Fairfield Library on
Tuesdays at 12 p.m. On June 10, learn about Monarch Butterflies with us. On June 17 make art in
gardening and rock painting. On June 24, have fun with outdoor messy art.
Color our World Mondays are “Make Two/Take One” at the North Fairfield Library. All ages drop in
on June 23 and 30 from 1-3 p.m. Come help us to create butterflies for decorating the library and the
library’s fair booth in August and also create one for you to take home. You will have your choice of
materials: coloring butterflies, painted rock butterflies, flying finger butterflies, simple folded butterflies,
and origami butterflies.
Movie Time is planned at our North Fairfield Library on Monday, June 16 at 1 p.m. All ages are
welcome. Come watch the wonders of “Monarch Butterfly Migration”. Popcorn and drinks will be
provided. Don’t forget you can make your own butterfly name.
The “Art of Laughter” is planned for Wednesday, June 18 at 11 a.m. Join PJ and Splat at our North
Fairfield location for interactive storytelling, magic, music and laughter.
Through the Children’s Hunger Alliance, all four Huron County Community Libraries will be having a
food distribution program for children and teens on June 9 – August 7. Families with minors in the
home can pick up food for 7 days per child. Willard’s “Lunch Bunch” will be held in the library annex on
Mondays from 10 – 11:30 a.m. and Tuesday evenings from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Greenwich Library’s “Lunch
Bunch” on Mondays 6-7 p.m. and on Thursdays from noon – 2 p.m. Wakeman Library’s “Lunch Bunch”
will be on Thursdays from 12 – 1 p.m. and North Fairfield’s “Lunch Bunch” on Tuesdays from 2-4 p.m.
